La teoria della relatività linguistica di Whorf ha implicazioni molto profonde per quello che riguarda la costituzione di gruppi umani intorno ad un mito fondatore, mi sembra. Categorie che in una lingua possono essere considerate "religiose" ed in un'altra lingua sono viste come "culturali" possono ad esempio avere un portato su come i due gruppi linguistici descrivono loro stessi e su come si rapportano all'altro.

Italians traditionally have problems with foreign languages. This comes IMHO from the grammar approach used to teach latin and ancient greek in schools, which is not suitable for spoken languages. Approaches based on pragmalinguistics, competences and doing things with the language you are learning should be used instead, at least at first.
IMHO gli italiani hanno gravi problemi con l'apprendimento delle lingue straniere perché si affidano troppo alla grammatica. Ciò viene dalla tradizione consolidata di insegnare (e di studiare) il latino o il greco classico con un approccio essenzialmente grammaticale. Ciò non funziona però se si vuole *parlare* una lingua. In quel caso a mio avviso almeno all'inizio bisogna piuttosto puntare sulla pragmatica, sulle funzioni e sulle competenze linguistiche.
