Tonight's supper:
Pike poached in lemon butter sauce, with basmati rice drizzled with the lemon butter sauce and asparagus spears. Pike has a delicate white flesh, and is much cheaper than cod or salmon. Delicious.

The ingredients for tonight's supper - a whole pike fish lying on a cutting board, alongside a whole lemon, and a bunch of asparagus spears. A disinterested cat sits in the background. Also in the picture - two jars of preserved cucumbers from last year, fermented in a traditional Polish method.
