If you are an organizer, let me give one piece of advice:

Do not take a disagreement as a demonstration of a split.

Take every disagreement as an opportunity to form a new consensus.

And if that is not possible, see it as an opportunity to define the affinity of both groups involved.

Aspire to find a cooperative ethos where both parties' boundaries are respected and their strengths properly utilized.

Ever get some new piece of clothing that you think is great but you don't want to ask other peoples' opinions on it because you know even if they don't like it there's a pretty high chance they'll just lie and say they do and if they do like it, it will be largely unimportant because you already liked it to begin with so what's the point?

No? Okay.

I am utterly horrified when leftists act like capitalism is just going to wither up and die as a natural cycle. That is wholesale fantasy. Unless we do the titanic work of moving toward socialism, capitalism will turn straight into fascism and take us with it.

I understand the tendency to let down our guard and to disengage with our existential ennui/dread, but I think it is a tendency that insulates us from reality.

Further, it is a luxury not afforded to everyone and therefore it is a luxury that alienates us from other humans. Engage with the world, engage with your doubts, hold yourself existentially accountable for the creation of personal meaning and fulfillment. Otherwise, your deathbed moment will be filled with regrets.

A world without John McCain is a better place.

I believe in the existentialist conception that a life should be "lived towards death." That is to say: we should make all of our decisions as if we are on our death bed, retrospectively analyzing our actions and decisions.

It puts a lot of daily burden on us to act in a way we would be proud of. But I think it works precisely for that reason. We have a tendency to give in to our creature comforts, to give into normalcy, and to forget the importance of our one fleeting moment of sentience.

youre feeling kind of sad. suddenly bob ross appears next to you. thats impossible, bob ross passed away years ago. but he's standing right there. how are you here bob? he winks.

“In nature, dead trees are just as normal as live trees.”

it's so hard to be alive sometimes bob. he nods.

"You need the dark in order to show the light.”

thanks bob. i love you. he smiles.

“Never forget to tell these special people in your life just how special they are to you.” crickets I'm getting on this sort of confirm my expectations.

So I haven't seen Crazy Rich Asians, but I'm trying to understand how this entire movie can be anything other than "more Asian CEOs!" boiled down into an hour and a half. Is there some surprise in the story that is lurking that should have leftists so hyped about it?

To me it sounds like "oh man, this entire movie is about an ICE facility where all of the cast members are Black! Representation yayyyy!"

Anyone here who has seen it and can explain?

Socialism is not the redistribution of wealth.

Socialism is never letting the wealth get mis-distributed to begin with.

I've given a test-reader the okay to read the book I've written, who was introduced to me as having been "boss at 2 different companies."

Guess we're about to see how a book centering an anarchist scientist commune in a post-apocalyptic state of nature, goes over with the owning class.

Delivering sincerity on this post, I refuse to block anyone and I will even followback many of the people I chose to stop interacting with on Twitter. I will turn over a new leaf here and treat everyone with kindness and humanity. Please do the same for others.

That being said, you guys gotta stop with this thing where you resurrect the disputes from Twitter on this website. I have no desire to see Mastodon turn into another place to cosplay the disputes of the Russian revolution over and over.

Leftists are walking a long path together and we will not part ways for many years to come. Practice solidarity and cooperate; capitalism is the enemy.

I have decided to use Twitter and Mastodon at the same time and the result is me venting all my frustrations and criticisms on Twitter, then clicking over to Mastodon to soothe my agitation.

Thank you Mastodon. I love you all.

Mastodon is the antidote for irony poisoning.

Every daring attempt to make a great change in existing conditions, every lofty vision of new possibilities for the human race, has been labelled utopian.
