haha ah crud welcome to "your new logo design is full of amateur flaws and you're a multimillion dollar entertainment company" hour.

"it feels like this is nitpicking"

YES. yes it is, thats the whole point of brand logotype design. The details are important, super important because your audience arent designers and they just infer if something looks "weird" and wont like it. They cant tell you why they dont like it, but they just wont. Thats details you have to nitpick.

AEW lost their good designer and im absolutely straight fuming.

why does this look bad? I can tell you, but you can also just see it looks bad for some undescribable reason

#AEW.

It's because the B in BIG is not as wide as the G, and therefore the I isnt centered to the middle of the design, so the entire thing is off centered and theres a larger gap on the right of the frame, which all unnerves you enough to not just see it and move on but to start really looking at it and be like, "im not sure i really like bulge text as an effect"

ah ok, this is a big improvement.

This is why you dont ever go inwards with your border effects of your logo.

thinking on it and my own issues with logo design, i have figured out the culprit of the issue with that Dynamite 3d logo:

the original 2d logo designer used sharp triangle blade like curves and then the 3d artist wanted to add all their normal fancy borders but if you do that to curves and go outwards the border for a blade curve extends for way too far so instead they went inwards which made the whole thing look cheap and mishapen.

@siege still not sure how I feel about the new logo except that I don't think it needed an update

@ArnoldBooker idk the basic white sans serif 3d text was pretty forgetful and without any character from a branding perspective. I can understand the desire to create a logotype for each show that actually sticks in the mind and feels unique.

The clean 2d version does look like it could be decent and slick - the preview suggests paint in oil effect like they have for Daniel Garcia's entrance video which could be an interesting direction that calls back to their beginnings while being something a bit more high end, but the 3d verison on the red background is awful.
