I'm not happy with how the Wil Wheaton situation was resolved. An admin was overwhelmed with frivolous reports about him and felt forced to exile him. I've said before that I think it sets a dangerous precedent on how a large group of people can mobilize to drive anyone off the fediverse. Mob rule is universally dangerous: Mods and admins must examine evidence and decide based on wrongdoing and danger, and not on how many times someone was reported.

Make a flatpak or use snap which already has Minecraft packaged, those formats were designed for proprietary software in first place.
@MatejLach the way I see it, due to the sandboxy nature of flatpaks or even snaps, they make a good way to distribute closed source applications on open platforms.
I don't necessarily advocate using those software, but I understand that there's a few people who might want to use them, and flatpak/snap give them a safe way to do so.
The hardest part of using PGP, key management, doesn't scale well in large organizations. We solved this problem at First Look Media (where there are over 200 PGP users) with GPG Sync. We maintain a keylist, and everyone subscribes to it, so everyone has the latest public key for everyone else.
I'm excited to announce that we've submitted a draft RFC that will turn GPG Sync into an internet standard!

A disturbing trend I've noted in the #FOSS community are end users demanding developers cater to their desires.
That's not how any of this works. FOSS developers are volunteers, and you are not their customer. You don't get to force developers to spend time on your pet projects.
If you want a feature: Submit a PR. If you don't like how a project is ran: Fork it.
You don't get to demand how a volunteer spends their limited resources. If you think it's worth it, submit a bounty for it.
Don't let your Open Source get ##commonsclaused! Read about how the #CommonsClause restricts your software freedom. Despite the opposition's rhetoric, #FOSS *is* sustainable without turning it into proprietary software; it's what we do here at #Conservancy. https://sfconservancy.org/blog/2018/aug/22/commons-clause/
@swedneck getting an ssl error, bud 😛
#SteamPlay runs Skyrim. 'Nuf said. :D
So.. This is interesting!
Birdsite Show more
Looking at what ppl are saying about Mastodon on Birdsite (PSA: not recommended!) reminds me that - even with the excitement of the influx this week - we don't need to get too caught up in 'converting' as many ppl from there as possible. The fediverse is actually better off without some of them - those who react by mocking & belittling. Instead of being like Pied Piper leading as many as we can, we can be like Morpheus offering Red & Blue pills; some will choose to stay put & that's OK.
Server run by the main developers of the project It is not focused on any particular niche interest - everyone is welcome as long as you follow our code of conduct!
