Folks are talking about Apple's upcoming Mac processor transition from Intel x86_64 to Apple Silicon, and comparing it to PowerPC to Intel x86.
I can't help but focus on the instruction sets. If you look at that, Apple's done this 9 times already (maybe more if I'm missing nuances):
Mac: MOS 6502 ➡️ Motorola 68000 series ➡️ PowerPC ➡️ x86 ➡️ x86_64 ➡️ Apple ARM 64-bit
iPhone & iPad: Samsung ARM ➡️ Apple ARM 32-bit ➡️ Apple ARMv7 ➡️ Apple ARM 64-bit
Apple TV: x86 ➡️ Apple ARMv7 ➡️ Apple ARM 64-bit
