My chief annoyance is when Yen shows up. I like Yen - a lot - but him being reduced to a sequence of acrobatics jobs out both him (by reducing him to a plot point) and the rest of the cast, who need a ringer to pull off the heist.
But, it does have the line "we're doing this for that eight year old girl who dreams of being a criminal" and that is PRETTY GOOD, and the actresses are all having a ball and are fun. I would not mind an OCEAN'S NINE, but perhaps workshop the plot a bit more.
Anyway. :/ I'm struggling financially because I've been screwed out of hours at work and bills have left me overdrawn at the bank. I don't have any money for groceries, gas, or any kind of amenities. Please help me out if you can, or Boost if you can't.
I saw DEADPOOL 2
I don't want to be one of those tedious accounts that wag their finger at people all day - it'd be hypocritical of me considering how many Ennis comics are in my shelf. But I will say this:
You know how we joked that they should replace T.J. Miller with an awkwardly inserted Chris Plummer and wondered why they didn't go for such a slam dunk of a joke? Well, Deadpool gropes Colossus in this movie, so I got a sinking feeling why.
So I went to download GIMP 2.10 and saw the BitTorrent link, and went, "huh." Then, for novelty's sake, I went and installed a BT client.
The official BT client - laden with ads - said that the GIMP installer from GIMP's own website "has a virus in it" and that upgrading to the paid BT client would protect me. Matches MD5 checksum; no virus detected by two scanners.
I feel a little put off by BT trying this scaremonger BS. Anyone have recs for a Win10 BT client that isn't skeevy?
Not to give anything away for #Mermay but there might be multiple mermaid and mer-adjacent stories in Strange Romance volume 2, which is Kickstarting its print edition RIGHT NOW:
INDIAN HORSE (light spoilers)
I have a lot of thoughts, but they're mostly settler thoughts which no one really needs. But I will say that I appreciated that it's an anti-sports movie in a lot of ways.
You know that scene in a sports movie where The Love Of The Game helps the player win, and they win so hard they solve racism? That does not happen here. That kind of story buys into meritocracy, and this story does not - and Saul's story still matters even though he didn't change hockey.
Infinity War (final thoughts)
One thing the Russos, Marcus and McFeely are good at is efficiency in dialogue; conveying how characters interact with just a few exchanged words. Bucky and Rocket share a moment and it can't be more than ten seconds, but it's the ten seconds you want. Cap and Thor's brief catch-up is absolutely splendid. I don't think Infinity War is truly great - but it's as good as it is because of stuff like that.
Infinity War (super-heaviest spoilers)
You ever see an entire movie theater sit forward and gasp at once, me included?
So the fucking RED SKULL is in this and I'm losing my mind because my prediction for Infinity War was "they'll never do this, but the Red Skull should show up." He didn't show up the way I felt he should - plucking the Gauntlet out of Thanos' hands - but still. What a moment.
The @GIMP have just released 2.10 to the world! Six years of hard work and improvements are all wrapped up and now available! Congratulations to the GIMP team for all of their hard work and dedication to bring us such a great project!
