Algorithmic feeds do two discovery tasks really well. They help you find interesting stuff: (1) when you don't know where to look (e.g., when first joining a community); & (2) when there's too much content to sift through. They're like a news editor choosing what to put in the paper. The trick is valuing their contribution while not mistaking them for the whole conversation.
