how does this work?
I feel gross, or, like Matt Pearce said, My brain is rotting from the inside on social media. But I also feel gross, in a different way, when I’m not on it.
I miss processing my thoughts on Twitter. I miss learning new things. I miss the community I’d built on Twitter.
I deleted the Facebook and Twitter apps off my phone to help me disconnect from social media. It’s helping me in some ways but it’s also hurting me in ways I didn’t expect.

mastodon has many reasons why it might be worth to give it a try (not just testing for some hours/days ;-)
some are:
- it's #opensource, no hidden survailience
- it's made and run by volunteers, proofing there is a life after #capitalism
- it's build on federated protocol, so instead of concurence its drive is collaboration
- every instance can choose how to moderate
this makes it possible to limitate:
#fascism, #sexism, #bigotry, #racism, #homophobia...
and make it a welcomming place instead
For every 10 followers you get on Instagram, 9 are fake.
I’d rather invest my energy in things and people I care about than have my energy taken from me.

If you see benches designed so one can't lie on it, you know something is very wrong in that place.
There are more empty houses then #homeless people, and yet more effort is being done to 'protect' with force that those houses stay unused.
And that not enough, authorities spening energy to make it impossible for someone being homeless to lie down on a bench.
Caring more to upgrade the price of their houses, then to focus on what houses should be for.
A home for someone to live.
