Me as a teenager: I don't like DS9, it's so political
Me now: DS9 is great, it's so POLITICAL
@Damage I never realised Trek was political until this new series & I was talking about it and everyone was like "duh! Trek has always been political!"
I loved TNG myself
@mrsteepot TNG was always pretty cowardly when push came to shove with politics and morality, particularly when it came to gender/sexuality anyway - don't get me wrong, I love it!! But DS9 feels pretty rebellious and like it's really showing TNG up by being outspoken in a few ways /nerdery
@Damage Interesting, I need to rewatch the previous seasons. I enjoyed all of them (TOS for comedy value!) but TNG just has a special place in my heart! Discovery is awesome so far though
@mrsteepot I only recently watched some of TOS and holy crap leanord nemoy is incredible. He's played for laughs but just comes off with this awesome dignity regardless. Bones is the worst. Lol. I did enjoy it than I expected! I should watch the rest of it.
@mrsteepot Quark in DS9 is similar, he doesn't quite have the dignity but the actor brings so much more to the role than was written imo. I'm finding it hard to warm to Discovery as a TNG/90s era nerd but I daresay it will grow on me!
@mrsteepot yeah the science is giving me nerd rage... but I do think it will grow on me! I agree about TNG, it might be my favourite, its flaws are what gives it its charm.
@Damage lol! I read an article slating the science, but to me it's science FICTION so I don't expect it to be real science. Although I'm still waiting for holodecks to happen, cos I would be down for that! And teleportation!
