The MAGA Republican perspective of immigrants, a superposition of opposing views, both wrong at the same time.

@Drdind It's because publicly expressing those two contrasting ideas is a lot better than outright saying what they really believe: "it shouldn't be immigrants who get the welfare or crappy jobs; it should be white people, like us."

That's also why you don't usually hear the MAGA types complain about immigrants from, say, northern and western Europe. However, when those immigrants start getting darker pigment in their skin, the walls go up.

@Drdind Also, honestly, bring up and ask a Conservative why a country like Norway or Canada can have universal health care and make it work and we can't (in the US). I bet some answer that it doesn't work over there. Sure. Whatever, not interested in that answer at the moment. Others will answer that those countries are much smaller than the US and that the majority of their populations "aren't exactly, well, you know..." so they can make it work.

@Drdind this is the in-group test: analytical criticism is a sign that you don't belong to MAGA

it's one of Eco's points in his Ur-Fascism analysis of Italian and German fascism:

to improve knowledge you have to challenge doctrine but this challenge is treason to fascism. the test to belong is to believe conflicting ideas without question

@Drdind Not just MAGA. Here in Blighty it’s just as bad!
