@milcom oh this brings to mind a चटनी/chatni that the East Indians in Bassein/Vasai and Virar area make called बोंडाची चटनी/Bonda chi Chatni - essentially using the banana blossom and ground coconut and some ginger garlic and spices.

Very time consuming preparation too.

I reckon the dish is from the Maharashtra-Konkan part of our heritage.
