Going forward, I'm going to use Mastodon more often.

I'm fed up with corporate social media's negative societal impact, as well as constant censorship of leftists on such platforms, notably YouTube and Facebook.

Twitter and Reddit are not run for our benefit, either.

We cannot solely rely on proprietary capitalist run *CENTRALIZED* platforms that benefit from this system.

A decentralized open source social media platform must eventually reach critical mass. Mastodon is one such possibility.

Perhaps this is obvious to many on the left, but ecological unsustainability has led me to question capitalism to the extent that either we transition to a system with a lesser profit motive, or we perish as a species. We solve the problem not as individuals, but a collective.

Like, I think there's a government and then, like Gramsci (and Parenti) pointed out, there's a state that surrounds and protects it--this is the administrative, policing, and intelligence arms that insulate the core from the masses, and I dont think the people on either side of the moat knows fully what's going on in the waters down there, especially in regards to bodies like the CIA.

Now that SCOTUS is fucked there's really no excuse to not push for some sort of revolutionary upheaval--even a lukewarm Bernie-like attempt at social democracy is gonna get kneecapped by the 5 ultra-right ghouls and the one slightly less ultra-right ghoul.

@AOC@twitter.com Congressional Democrats have the ability to seriously gum up the works & very possibly deny a lifetime SC appointment to Christo-Fascist Amy Coney Barrett – fact is, they've already rolled over, and confirmation is a done deal. Upside is we do get indignant tweets like this one.

Follow the $. So far, Uber, Lyft, DoorDash, Instacart + Postmates have spent ~$186 MILLION for Yes on 22 so they can exempt themselves from CA law that requires app-based companies to provide basic protections to their workers. twitter.com/People4Bernie/stat

Starmer’s strategy of never acting decisively might have accidentally landed him in based territory 😭😭😭

I would argue that it does not matter if Emacs follows the Unix philosophy. Emacs is a hybrid of UNIX, Lisp influences and older time sharing operating systems, and these other influences are not to its detriment, but are exactly what make it distinctive and useful as an extensible software so many decades later.

When they go low, there is always someone completely awful to go even lower. Jenny Rubs is that completely awful someone always ready to be worse.

No, @JRubinBlogger@twitter.com, we are done with rape culture and your victim-shaming. Your anti-woman grift is no surprise given your Republican roots. Shaming and blaming victims is their stock and trade. Bravo.

Jeff Bezos will be guillotined if this toot is boosted 69 times exactly.

Imagine thinking a document that said slaves were worth 3/5 a person was some kind of revolutionary breakthrough that needs to be protected.

Interesting article by @Anna about problems within the dev and product-dev process. I actually see many parallels to what happens in a lot of other projects based on open and/or agile methodology.

I personally come to different evaluations of the described conflicts, and to other conclusions, too.

Development of a software product, that really makes a difference, needs clear vision and focus.
