I know it is a vanity metric, but I'm delighted that my blog now has >300 followers in the Fediverse.
@cazmockett yikes!
If you're able, could you send me a screen recording of it happening?
I think it is a bug in Ivory rather than my site, but want to make sure.
@Edent no idea how to do that, sorry!
@Edent ok, chased it down a bit more. Ivory > Chrome = shows code, not rendered.
Copied link from Ivory and opened in chrome directly, didn’t work. Same copied link opened ok in safari. Also Masto client > chrome works. @alistairmacdonald seemed to think it might be an issue with Ivory sending the wrong headers. Does that help? It’s weird that it used to work fine from your @Edent posts though.
@cazmockett @alistairmacdonald
Yes, if Ivory asks for the activitypub+json version, that's what it'll get.
Not much I can do about it - so probably worth you pinging the app to let them know.
@Edent @blog do you use caching? The plugin creator tells me caching can interfere with #ActivityPub (endpoints?).
What caching exclude settings do you use for #Wordpress ActivityPub plugin?
@MindCreatesMeaning I'm using LSCache and APCu. But I've manually excluded a few paths from caching.
Specifically
/.well-known
/wp-json
/author/
/@blog (which is my username)
@Edent I’ll try these out, thank you.
@Edent alas, no success with these rules using WPSuperCache.
@MindCreatesMeaning
Does it works if you turn of caching completely?
@Edent@mastodon.social @blog@shkspr.mobi eww wordpress, I was curious on how you had it configured and thats another plugin and not something thats included in it natively. I am curious if you checked out other blog platforms that are already federated.
@10leej OK, try again without the insults and I'll happily answer your questions.
@Edent @blog
After having read your post I used it as inspiration for doing it on my own blog and became curious about this mentioned limitation:
"There's no way to set a unique user avatar - it will go with whatever your blog is set to display."
So, I can live with my blog not supporting per-user avatars when my blog post pop up in the Fediverse timeline, but I'm not really grasping how I can set an avatar for the entire blog?
I've done a bit of Googling but pretty much only get results for setting Gravatar avatars, using plugins or doing some fiddling in code, none of which I'm certain do the necessary changes.
Would you be willing to show me in the right direction? I would really appreciate it.
@matrixes On your blog, go to
Users → Profile
It should take you to
/wp-admin/profile.php
Scroll down and you can add your avatar.

@Edent and now it should be one more :-)
