blog! “We pay 12p / kWh for electricity - thanks to a smart tariff and battery”
I love my solar panels. But the solar panels don't love the British midwinter. Most of the year, my panels produce more electricity than I can use. But in winter we're lucky if they produce 3kWh per day - and most of the time it is considerab…

@Edent our install has been delayed a few months, but at least we will kick off generating more power. We'll have a big battery, so hope that will improve the savings
@Edent did the battery communication with Octopus already exist, or is this something you had to develop yourself?
@hugh
I emailed the battery supplier and told them what tariff I was on. That is the extent of what I did.
@Edent cool - that’s good to know. I’m considering doing something along these lines.
@Edent I totally need to work out how to get my Solis inverter to automatically change settings based on price! It doesn't seem to be quite as clever as your system! (We increased the size of our batteries from 4.8 to 7.2 KWh this summer though, and even just that has saved us money compared to last year).
@ajlanes I'm not all that surprised. It definitely sounds like a good choice if adding batteries to an existing system. But it wasn't what was available under the Solar Together scheme.
