One thing that #signalgate confirms is that the Trump administration really hates Europe. i don't expect them to defend us within NATO. I can't imagine them intervening when Putin invades the baltics for example.

It's clear the current USA administration and diplomacy don't have much in common. Regardless of this particular context, I must admit that as a European I do feel like "pathetic" is a good word for our general situation, highly dependent on USA for software and defence, on Russia for energy, on China for everything.. We've been sitting on our bums for so long that it now hurts and we only have ourselves to blame.

@ErikJonker @geopolitics I already indicated this in a topic about gold in another thread. We have our gold reserves in storage in America. I do not trust Trump and he could well come up with the idea to tax European countries that have stored their gold reserves in the #US with a few bars of gold. We need to shake up our cabinet and indicate that the gold reserves must be brought back from the #US to the Netherlands. Prevention is better than cure and trust is good but control is better.

But as Zelinsky already told Trump he isn't playing. If Zelinsky wanted to suck the air out of Trump's domestic media circus he would identify if as the media distraction Trump needs and leave. But that would make sanctions relief on Putin by the 47s admin permissable, where presently they are not. Zelinskis goal isn't to defeat Trump. That's America's mess. At what point does Europe uninvite the US military from its soils? It would not be difficult to wrangle the circumstances where Trump withdraws US troops as means of punishment. The guys ego is driven by the desire to be seen as strong.
