@SanfordianPhil yes. Itโ€™s a common flat earth misconception that since objects experience high heat when entering the โ€œatmosphereโ€ that means that the โ€œatmosphereโ€ is made of fire.

@Excuse_haver @SanfordianPhil I'm pretty sure if you put a teaspoon of neutron star into a teaspoon you would no longer have a teaspoon.

Or a you.

@Excuse_haver ok, I knew they weren't able to understand pressure but that one was new for me

@Excuse_haver
It's just...friction. it was explained to me in second grade, with the old "the carpet's not on fire, but here's how to get rug burn" bit.
@SanfordianPhil

@Excuse_haver @erosdiscordia my buddy is a pilot and puts pictures on insta and some pilot forum and they find him sometimes. Next time he sends me screenshots I'll pass them along

@Excuse_haver @erosdiscordia my favorite are the ones where they claim he's a NASA stooge and he just responds back that he is just posting pics for his friends and family. They get so mad

@SanfordianPhil Oh man, they HATE nasa. For most of them nasa is the heavy in the fantasy world that they have created for themselves. Their Sauron. Exposing nasa is the holy grail.

@Excuse_haver lol yeah my first experience with them they were yelling at me for saying I thought a photo from the NASA Twitter account was neat

@SanfordianPhil
I remember when Cassini was launched in the 90s, my mom and her weird friends were all up in arms convinced that it was designed to explode, and layer central Florida with mind-control radiation.
@Excuse_haver

@Excuse_haver
Friend, hear me when I say it's a teaspoon of the ocean I got raised in. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿผ๐Ÿ™๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿป
@SanfordianPhil

@Slipperywerm @erosdiscordia @Excuse_haver hi, yes just discussing all the ways NASA is trying to swindle, bamboozle, and murder us, as you do

@SanfordianPhil
I wanna hear about that pilot and some of the stuff he's heard. I'll bet it's especially weird when it's what you do for a living, that people dont believe in.
@Slipperywerm @Excuse_haver

@erosdiscordia @Slipperywerm @Excuse_haver it's mostly just weirdly capitalized rants, I swear that there's some sovereign citizen overlap and they're trying to find the right wording to force NASA stooges to have to tell the truth under maritime law

@SanfordianPhil
Oh I definitely have. But somehow I'd missed that they were trying to expose NASA. The ones I've met were too obsessed with their taxes to fuss about space and observatories.
@Slipperywerm @Excuse_haver

@Slipperywerm
I'm thinking the sovereign citizens thing is way bigger/worse than just the gold bugs and gun nuts I met.

Were those dudes up in the midwest who took over that park and got sent dildos, sovereign citizens?

@Slipperywerm
I feel like...I got a real good look into a wild conspiracy-nightmare worldview growing up, and I'm almost afraid to learn much more. I somehow managed to stay pretty immune to it. It's all fascinating to me in a hilarious way, but it's also staring into the ol' void, if you know what I mean.
I don't know if my family is flat-earth now or sovereign citizen, but they're definitely like chemtrail/anti-vax/illuminati.

@erosdiscordia @SanfordianPhil @Slipperywerm some
believe that all pilots are in on it. Some think pilots are being tricked. By GPS, and like lighting and shit.

@erosdiscordia @Slipperywerm @SanfordianPhil

The fun thing about flat earth is that itโ€™s infinite. No matter what you throw at them they will morph it into something else instantly and have a new โ€œproofโ€. They are the borg.

@Excuse_haver
I'm cackling, but my soul shriveled.

What the fuck do they think "straight ahead" IS, if not up? Down at the ground? I'm dying.
@SanfordianPhil

@erosdiscordia @SanfordianPhil

Straight ahead would be any direction perpendicular to the (horizontal and flat) earth. So like, not at the dome.

@Excuse_haver @erosdiscordia wait wouldn't the telescope just show their game of thrones ice wall if they did this?

@SanfordianPhil @erosdiscordia

Well if you believe in the ice wall theory, yes. Otherwise you would simply see an endless plane. But I think the idea is: lets see the damn wall.

@Excuse_haver
I think what cracks me up is the idea that the women and men capable of building an observatory are too dense to know which way to point the thing.
@SanfordianPhil

@erosdiscordia @SanfordianPhil

If I had three wishes they would be:

1) Make me a flat earther
2) Make the earth flat

End of wishes

@Excuse_haver @SanfordianPhil this is true, the atmosphere is fire. we are breathing fire right now

@binchicken @Excuse_haver things you believe: this๐Ÿ‘‡is the coldest โ„๐ŸŒจ fire๐Ÿ”ฅI've ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™‚๏ธ๐Ÿ™‹โ€โ™€๏ธever ๐Ÿ“… beathed๐Ÿ˜ค ๐Ÿšซ๐Ÿšซ

@Excuse_haver
I also love how it seems that "bullet speed" is like the fastest thing they can think of.

Not, you know, light.

@erosdiscordia @Excuse_haver I wonder if these people have ever been inside a vehicle and complained that the vehicle can't possibly be moving very fast because they're not dead from being hit by the car that they are riding in.

@erosdiscordia lol I hadnโ€™t even noticed that. The immutable speed of the bullet.
