At the end of March/beginning of April, 2017, @Shutsumon posted on twitter about this thing called mastodon and I was like "oh shit! something I can use like twitter that isn't twitter!!" and she was like "yeah I'd move but no one else is using it" and I was like

"WATCH THIS"

And that is how tootplanet.space came to be

websites: if you click "keep me logged in", it will never work
ads/trackers: know exactly who you are at all times with zero effort required on your part

@mike โ€œyeah man, any old schmuck with a degree and a few years of training can pilot rovers. But only a select few true heroes have the sheer willpower required to resist drawing an extraterrestrial phallus. Hats off to them.โ€

@Gargron Didn't get a response last time with my other account.

Could you add Nynorsk or "New norwegian" as a language option to translate for on crowdin?

Adding nn_no in addition to the already used nb_no

We have two ways of writing in Norway, and there is kind of like a feud, and not having the option to have newnorwegian kind of fuels the expeirence to have to use "booktongue" which is the norwegian that you can choose on Mastodon.

Hmmpf, I've hatched over 50 eggs in this week; even put 5km eggs in the finite (super) incubators, even though I usually reserve them for 10km eggs, and used up my remaining coins on an Adventure Box wi5h more incubatoes, but I still haven't hatched one of the event ...
Instead I've gotten a bunch of and and other that I already have plenty of good ones of... and gotten more 5km and 2km eggs than I can hatch...

One of last year's calendar pieces :) I usually have one piece with a dragon! Last year's theme was "collecting". #illustration #dragons #plushies #lair #mastoart #calendar

There's a real Captain James Kirk in the US Navy. He currently commands the USS Zumwalt.

Alas, he is Captain James A. Kirk, not James T. Kirk.

Yay! After not having done a of it for some years, my favourite Let's Play YouTuber has started another LP again!

His weekly MC videos are something to brighten up my Sundays with! :D

@FiXato mainly just title, author(s), cover(s), and a link to the full data set. I'm not sure how best to do it, I just want a data set that's extensive and not messy, and ideally that's open and won't track its users (too much)

Ah fuck, I'm not confident I can make a good experience with just Open Library and I can't for the life of me figure out how to get anything useful out of the MediaWiki API. I'm worried I'll be required to store book data so it can be cleaned and made actually useful ๐Ÿ˜ซ

Can anyone help me find an API that's free (or cheap) that'll be good to use for getting book data? ISBNdb looks great, but it's a little pricey for a $0 budget project...

"Uh," I said, "Like, the language of ancient Rome?"

"Yeah."

"โ€ฆ Kinda?" ๐Ÿคจ

"What's seven in Latin?"

"Uhโ€ฆ like, septimus is seventh, I think."

"Uh, yeah! Septum is seven, then." Then they mumbled, "seven, eight, nineโ€ฆ"

"OK. Oh! It's the last few months: September, October, November, December; 7, 8, 9, 10. To help remember."

"Oh cool. Thanks!"

๐Ÿคท๐Ÿปโ€โ™‚๏ธ I have no idea why they wanted to know that. They have no idea what a perfect person I am to ask such a random language question. It was wonderful.

hey fedi, approximately when (local time) do you usually wake up? boosts ๐Ÿ†—

The yowling began as the sun's shadow rose. That was all the cats needed; most other creatures needed the sun's body to acknowledge the dawn.

Empty bellies needed to be filled NOW, and the keeper was late, as always. They were one such creature that could not see the first sun, and seemed unaware of the minute adjustments to the time - the cats did their best but the keeper preferred the screaming box.

Even then they ignored it most days.

even though I got up before 7 this morning, I should've had plenty of sleep... so why am I so dog tired...
