Parenting solo, ~
While the kids are awake they just require too much attention to do anything more complex than sporadic browsing, reading, a few minutes of a casual game etc... All day I have geeky things I want to do that I put on my mental list to play with once they're in bed. Then after I get them to bed and do all the necessary housework I just...am out of mental energy and motivation to get into anything at all. Bleh.

It now fills a grid with buttons with thumbnail images for my subscriptions' videos, and clicking on them will open #MPV. :D
Auto-resizing still doesn't quite work as well as I'd like though... will have to look closer into that...
Start-up time also is still quite atrocious, but that should probably improve by loading a smaller JSON file with less cached video entries.
i'm retiring an older collaborative project that never quite got off the ground... BUT in doing so we're releasing the tiles we drew for it into the creative commons. 281 free, hand-drawn isometric tiles, to use in your projects:
#TodayILearned that "the litte boy who lived down the lane" originally didn't get a bag of wool:
«Bah, Bah, a black Sheep,
Have you any wool?
Yes old mate i have
Three bags full,
Two for my master,
One for my dame,
None for the little boy
That cries in the lane.»
complaining about subtitled videos (as a hearing person)
First: I can hear fine, but I have trouble processing speech, so I like to have subtitles for video content.
You know whats bad?
Videos without subtitles.
You know what's a little better?
Videos with auto-generated subtitles
You know what's worse?
Videos with rephrased subtitles!
The meaning might be the same and it might be shorter, but I read the subtitles to help me process the audio. If they are different, I can't understand either!
At last! #Spritely Goblins v0.7 is out! https://dustycloud.org/blog/spritely-goblins-v0.7-released/

Finally, i3 is working exactly the way I want it to! No more juggling workspaces trying to find an open instance of an app, or struggling to remember what app was in which number workspace. Need the terminal? Just go to Mod+T for the terminal workspace. Emacs? Mod+E. Did I have LibreOffice open? Mod+W, and if it's not there, open it with dmenu. Need a reference window? Mod+R, and move any needed windows--browser, spreadsheets--into the workspace with Mod+Shift+R. Most workspaces have assigned monitors, but if I need one to be in a different monitor I just type Mod+1 for primary and Mod+2 for the secondary. This suits my workflow perfectly and it was a remarkably smooth experience configuring it, despite some trial-and-error.
