Around the city, I've been finding supportive, trans-inclusive stickers placed on swaths of public items - doors, poles, signs, bulletin boards, etc. :heart_sp_trans:

It's raining, people!! It's been a miserable (IMO) week of record highs (35C with the humidex yesterday). I'm going to try filling two rain barrels this year. Maybe start saving some shower water.
In more ways than one, it feels like the end of the world as we know it.

If you're currently on a massive server like, you might want to consider moving your account to a smaller server.

You can keep your followers when you change servers, here's how to do it:

You can find reliable servers at (all the servers listed there agree to the covenant at Try to pick one with fewer people.

There are lots of good things about smaller servers:

-Better moderation, because there are more staff per member.

-Smaller servers tend to have more personality, with a village feel.

-The local timeline on smaller servers is much more readable.

-Smaller servers protect the Fediverse as a whole from being taken over, because lots of smaller servers are harder to buy than a few big servers.

-It's easier to make a difference on smaller servers. It's easier to discuss things with the admin and other members.

I identified six different bird sounds including cardinals, finches, a robin, crows/starlings/blackbirds (I get them mixed up), and the scream of a pigeon.
I heard the sound of cars passing in the next street, the occasional tintinnabulation of the wind chimes, and was very aware of my body.

meditation challenge from Ian:

I got up at 6:30, made a mug of coffee, and took it to the backyard. I sat cross-legged on the deck of the gazebo wrapped in a shawl, drank my coffee, and listened.

It's still unreasonably warm here in (31C this coming Friday), our rain barrel is almost empty, and the cardinals on our verandah have lost a baby bird from their nest. She is the saddest mom ever. I hope they have more in the nest. I wish I could comfort her.
For refreshment purposes, here is a snow-bear in a bench we found this past winter.

I'm cranky and hot and I've got tinnitus, so here is a photo of two little snow people beside the tips of my snowshoes. Found them last year. Now it's 19C, and I'm unreasonably warm and wish it would rain or something.

I'm going to standing in a concentration camp waiting to be executed and there will be someone on one side of me saying "I don't think they'll actually do it" and someone on the other side saying "But the Democrats were bad too!"
