No one should be allowed to have any money until we figure out exactly where capitalism went wrong.

Turkey's inexorable slide into dictatorship is terrifying to watch. As the world shifts to the right, we need to be extremely vigilant.

It's 69F outside right now. For those of you used to celsius temperatures, you can get a sense of what that's like by remembering "69 = nice"

This morning at work: Someone makes an error that demands a counterexample of a shape with rotational but not reflective symmetry; the entire room is silent as everyone tries to come up with an example that isn't the swastika.

This afternoon on work slack: Everyone lists the three dozen other examples they thought of immediately upon leaving the meeting.

Despite reading a lot of world news myself, I appreciate the etiquette of putting it behind a cw here.

Made this account about 3 months ago because of @Hbomberguy guy but only just now getting around to figuring out Mastodon now.

yo so, a word about something I saw the other day

if you want to talk about behaviour you think is exploitative, self-serving, self-aggrandising, please use those terms. PLEASE don't call people "professional victims" - at best it's overly reductive and dismissive of everything they do

but more importantly, it's a catchphrase literal neonazis use to delegitimise their victims. we can't take up their rhetoric in earnest because it poisons any legitimate discussion.

poisoning public discourse is literally the primary goal of the rightwing's incessant catchphrasing, because if serious discussion cannot be had they can just bravado in and assert themselves by honking louder than everyone else which is the only thing they're actually good at.

It's amazing how clueless otherwise brilliant Silicon Valley types tend to be about how the rest of the world feels about rooting so much trust in American companies/government.

Mastodon's more international flavour will hopefully open some eyes to this.
