I'm very very sad because i wanted to be at ESL and meet my friends. I think adrenalin of the landing and general stress and health concerns influenced my decision to turn back. It's sad because if there wasn't a stop, I'd be fine and in England right now

Eugen @Gargron

I feel like I've disappointed people, I've certainly disappointed myself. In hindsight I believe i made a mistake, and it's scary because at the time it so obviously didn't seem like a mistake at all. I don't know what to do with myself right now.

@Gargron Oh, but remember, it is all up to you. You are not forced to do anything left or right.

@Gargron Add a quote function inside toots and we will forgive you.You must know that you really dissapointed me tho

@Gargron I've done stuff like that over the years albeit on a smaller scale. The only thing you can do is let yourself feel how you're going to feel and understand that it will pass and learn from it from there. Whoever you may have let down (which you likely didn't anyways I would imagine they will understand your choice and why you made it at the time) won't want you beating yourself up about it

@gargron have you considered leasing time on a telepresence robot?

I shouldn't travel alone and maybe putting a person who has barely ever traveled in a situation with lots of adrenalin like flying and expecting that person to realize they're influenced by that is not a good idea

@gargron

do you
do you not like traveling??
but you're going somewhere else!

@Gargron May I ask why you decided to fly anyway? Was it a better deal than the good ol' Deutsche Bahn?

@Julia my destination was England, but i had a layover within Germany

@Gargron @Julia If I lived in the EU and needed to go to London from Berlin, I'd totally drive. :p I've done that before for business trips in the States.

@mdm @Julia i don't own a car. Could've taken train & ferry but i thought I'd just handle the plane and it would be faster

@Gargron @Julia I would say just rent a car, but I just checked on flight prices in the EU, and they're amazingly cheap compared to what I'm used to, holy crap.

@Gargron
You should read statistics on aviation safety, and then compare them with every other mean of transportation. Flying is safer than anything else. ✈️

@ciaby @Gargron Anxiety is not rational, though. If it were, no one would ever have panic attacks.

@Julia
Absolutely, but I have anxiety myself (about other things) and sometimes framing the situation in a purely logical way helps me get over it, at least temporarily.
@Gargron

@ciaby So do I and it 100% does not help me at all. But I'm glad it works for you!

@ciaby There's physical stress on the body from flying, in my case maybe worse than for others

@Gargron hey, please, don't be hard on yourself, what happened to you is totally understandable. Travelling is really stressful. It gets much better with time but starting is hard and doing it alone is hard. I hope you find someone to travel with you and maybe it will help you
:blobpats: :blobnomcookie:

@Gargron oh geez was this your first time flying? That’s always prettt scary.

@gargron its ok at the time of making the decision it was the right one. Just because you feel differently about it does not mean it was the wrong decision. Have a cup of tea and put on some terrible movies and relax 😊

@NeuroWinter this is legit the most helpful thing I heard so far. Thank you

@Gargron

Learn from your mistake and do not repeat it, is there something else to do with mistakes (except repair them when you can)?
