@ratbaby The power to develop Mastodon is not centralized. There is a version of Mastodon which is the most popular and provided by me, but there are already thousands of forks with various small and big tweaks, and every admin can choose what to install or what modifications to make; not to mention software like Pleroma and Pixelfed, Rustodon and Kroeg, Misskey and Miniverse which provide 100% independent code to interact with the same network.

@ratbaby Unlike Bitcoin, where the blockchain ledger is one single source of truth for everyone, and the developers can influence what is accepted as that source of truth, Mastodon has no concept of such a thing and each server is 100% independent & can do what it wants with the code.
