@Gargron yup. There were hundreds of “digital strip searches” in 2017. This update is just an iteration on an exiting law.

@Gargron Looks like that it starts to be rule of thumb, if you're travelling somewhere, leave your phone at home and just take some cheap replacement without any data in it.
@Gargron I wonder if stories like this impact tourism? I would love to see New Zealand, but consider this a potential risk.
