@Gargron Not great actually. Pretty bad to be honest. Terrible use of space. One column is smart way to go for sure but this is not the way to do it. Copy this. beat gag.

@oneway First of all that screenshot copies the old Twitter layout. Secondly, Mastodon users are opposed to trending tags and follow recommendations, so that space would be empty anyway.

@marsxyz @Gargron yes, we have as well but from what i understand for very different reasons. we dont have pedos trying to hide content but we do have ppl concerned about AI or others determining behavior.

@Gargron okay, fine im not a fan of trending or who to follow either but talking about center column.

Post box, local global, etc tabs all in center column is more logical...is better than back and forward.

and you could all the other stuff you have on right side currently on left side. under profile details. but notif, messages etc should all go on top as expected.

OR just copy new twitter 100% both are better options.

Here is what new gab design is suppose to look like.

@oneway When there is not enough space for the right panel, it disappears and a tab bar appears above the main column. The design is fully responsive. Not interested in taking any cues from Gab, whose developers literally gave up on their own code in favour of using ours.

@Gargron ok. whatever you want to do. You asked so i gave some input. just some ideas I think are much better. right now you have posting box in one column, the results in another and the filters for the content in another. seems more logical to keep all those related things together. in center. obviously your call.

yes, gab is a tech joke but it isn't hard to fork code nor is it hard to come up design ppl are more used to and like more than mastodon. no offense. hope you beat them.

@oneway @Gargron
I agree, I don't really like it, the new mastodon layout is actually a "3-column" design, like old twitter. I really like the new 2 column layout on twitter: one for feed and one for discovery, very easy!
PS I don't like "who to follow" but I use a lot trending hashtag, really useful sometimes, I would like to have it as an option

@diggita @oneway @Gargron I agree, the design looks bad, if it's aimed to new users coming from twitter/instagram/facebook you should definitely change it, it should look more close to the new twitter design, I mean submit a new toot should be on top of the feed instead on the left column, all other links on left column move it at the bottom of the right column, keep it easy!!
