@Gargron they planned to change the server and not to conserve user and data that what they said on their about page.

The administrator of mstdn.jp is a college student and not a worker.
If help is needed it may be a donation.
There was a movement that Japanese tech officials are cooperating with twitter etc.

@ Nulkal is mstdn.jp The Admin seems to have moved from a physical server to a cloud server.
At that time it may have skipped the data.
Is @ Gargron possibly a. Cloud Admin? One of the developers of mastodon's GitHub?(@_@;)

I was seeing nulkal interaction with you.
Perhaps data migration seems to bring the server to the cloud assuming failure.
Since it was originally moving in a small environment of individuals, it can not be helped.

If the data restoration procedure is in GitHub, other administrators may be able to refer to it.
As far as I can see, it seems to be a problem in the process of switching from test domain to public domain.
I saw data on the test domain being left with data on other instances and not being able to delete it.

@antheor @Gargron @NSXG yeah it should be just an sql migration. actually just taking a dump should be enough. postgresql as main storage, and redis is probably used just for pubsub and sidekiq job queue

Certainly, there are various cases of data problems in instance migration.
However, I think that the most cases will come up when people start up instances from now on.

Troubleshooting may be reduced if you give an example of a simple instance migration.

@Gargron It seems he has consciously deleted the accounts on his instance to move it on a cloud…

@Gargron they were moving 'to the cloud' and intended on losing the data (so their about page said yesterday)

@Gargron @nullkal on Twitter should be the owner. He seems to have restarted from scratch.
