One thought: is @switter a social network? Or should it be considered part of the Mastodon social network? Or is the broader Fediverse the social network?

@schlink @switter In layman terms they're all true. In technical... Also kind of true? Switter could exist even if all other servers disappeared. Therefore, it's a social network. But it's also part of a bigger social network, which is the fediverse...

@Gargron @schlink @switter I think the technical term is "network of networks", actually. switter is a network, and activitypub is a federation of networks (so, itself a network)
