I would marry anyone who gave me $50,000.
@Kleingeldprinz you must be rich
@GinnyMcQueen why only $50K?
@gex you must be rich
@GinnyMcQueen So I'm assuming this is a test to figure out who to block, semi-pre-emptively?
@maloki It isn't really a joke I would do pretty much do anything to afford my medical bills. It's kind of life or death...
@auroch @GinnyMcQueen yeah that's what I was trying to say abotu Sweden
Holy shit are all of you rich? Why are all the replies saying that is not a lot of money? That is enough money to pay my medical bills!!
@GinnyMcQueen Oh medical bills, is it already accumulated bills? You could just marry someone in sweden fixed :D
@GinnyMcQueen 50k is definitely not be sneezed at. And yet, there's always going to be an asshole who says "Cheap" , not realising how *big* an asshole that makes them.
:(
@GinnyMcQueen (Shit, 50k in USD would allow me to full time review for, like, two whole years. Rent and all.)
@GinnyMcQueen It's for sure a huge chunk of change, but in theory a marriage is a lifetime commitment, and over that scale 50K isn't a huge amount. Atleast IMO xD
@GinnyMcQueen I'm looking at buying a condo in Madison. $50k is just enough to prevent paying PMI. It's also 3x my annual disability income. It all depends in where your standing.
@GinnyMcQueen How much?
@GinnyMcQueen That's a dangerous thing to post on social media. Who knows what rich creepers lurk in the hearts of social media?
And from what I've seen, you'd be selling yourself HELLA short.
So Mastodon is full of rich men? I don't believe you...
@GinnyMcQueen Depends. Anyone tried your offer yet?
@GinnyMcQueen Its full of software engineers, a lot of whome make 100k+ a year. Half a year of salary for something "lifelong" like marriage is pretty cheap.
Every man here thinks when you get married it is forever. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHππππππππππππππππππππππππππ
@GinnyMcQueen
Child of divorce here: can confirm marriage isn't forever lawl
@GinnyMcQueen A divorce would cost you a big part of the $50,000
@GinnyMcQueen Glad to be a meat popsicle then. :joy:
Also every man replying to me isn't dying from lack of health care and support from abuse/stalking like I am. Y'all don't ever have to consider drastic measures that are against what you want to do.
I have to do that all the time.
So think before you respond to (obviously abstract concept) toots.
If dozens of men are going to @ me saying the amount of money that would save my life isn't "that much" - um, hi. Can I have some money? You seem to have an overabundance.
Weird. The sudden flood of replies from dudes just stopped. It's almost as if they had nothing to contribute except to brag about having money and then ran away...
@GinnyMcQueen just think your attention is over ;)
@GinnyMcQueen maybe they were on Alderaan.social (and hopefully they stay away)
@GinnyMcQueen Cue Kesha's "Sleazy"
@GinnyMcQueen haha I wish :-(
@GinnyMcQueen I just tuned in. Why do you need saved? And why do strange men on the internet care?
The second question is probably rhetorical...
@GinnyMcQueen "Make it about me!" is a hard habit for guys to break (speaking as a guy who hears from other men all the damn time), but everyone woman knows this already . . .
@GinnyMcQueen sorry to hear about your situation. RESPECT, for doing what you must for survival.
@GinnyMcQueen healthy people honestly have no idea how much it costs to be sick. i'm in a really good spot right now but i remember in grad school looking at how much of my monthly budget went to meds (let alone dr visits/blood tests)&having that crushing realization that a decent chunk of my paycheck was literally just for keeping me healthy/able to work
i actually did marry a sorta-rich dude tho (didn't know he'd be a lawyer when we first got together but hey) and honestly.....i recommend it
@GinnyMcQueen i mean i'd recommend free universal health care over marrying rich but in the meantime, y'know
@ebeth I was married to a lawyer. He was unemployed for the first years, I helped him build his business and paid for stuff for years, and then he cheated on me with a bunch of strippers and left me with nothing.
@GinnyMcQueen i'm so sorry <3 he sounds like a scumbag. i hope things go better for you going forward
@GinnyMcQueen Well...first attempt was a brief one, second has lasted 20+ years, so. . .not quite forever, but a real long time.
@GinnyMcQueen Don't know about rich...but if I was going to marry someone for money I'd want a LOT of money. At least enough that if we got divorced and had to give up half that it would still be a lot
@GinnyMcQueen $50k is less than most tech people make per year. Most of the people I've seen on Mastadon are in tech. So, no, we're not rich, but $50k isn't a huge amount of money when you're talking about the rest of your life.
@DexteriousJones Your poor-shaming is not appreciated.
@GinnyMcQueen There's no right answer, is there? No matter what I say it's construed as white-knighting, doing some form of shaming, or mansplaining.
Perception of the message is important, but intent is important *too*. I'm sorry you feel "poor-shamed", it wasn't my intent to dismiss your struggle(s).
@GinnyMcQueen I imagine it's full of men who are privileged enough to not have to worry about not being able to afford something they really need. And who feel a need to express their opinions about everything (yeah I get that I'm doing so right now)
@GinnyMcQueen Well, they all have diamonds in the eyes ...
@GinnyMcQueen is me I'm rich men
@GinnyMcQueen You could probably get five times as much, at least. Don't sell yourself short. :grinning:
@GinnyMcQueen no i am not. But 50k $ for marrying a stranger? I mean, common
@GinnyMcQueen cheap-ass
