The fun thing about "sarcastic" mansplaining is that if I don't know you, it is indistinguishable from actual mansplaining.

It doesn't work as a joke. You are actually just doing the exact same thing that idiots do, just with a secret intent that I am not in on.

If you feel the need to tell someone you were "just kidding", you fucked up.

Being shitty and saying you are doing it for fun is a special kind of shitty.

Have a great day.

@GinnyMcQueen Any "ironic" or "sarcastic" awfulness is not only indistinguishable from the real thing, but frequently leads to dropping the irony or sarcasm excuse and just being honestly awful.

@GinnyMcQueen You might say the "irony" is merely a device to maintain the internal fiction that you're a Good Person and you wouldn't say that stuff for reals, but you know this blog makes some good points...

@GinnyMcQueen Yeah, this is common with all form of sarcasm on the internet. So many seems to completely miss the point of sarcasm.

@GinnyMcQueen yeah, there's a point at which joking about stuff—even if the idea is to mock it—trivializes the larger issues and just makes things worse.

And the self-righteous "oh I was just having fun, why's everybody mad" kind of reveals who you really are.

@GinnyMcQueen I worry sarcasm won't work in analog. It can't work in digital.
