@HistoPol Why did you post the very link I did in reply to my link? @Plautus@mindly.social

@GottaLaff
B/C FediLab would not let me copy your post's link, as in 70% of the time.
Without a link, comments are completely unrelated.
Time for the quote feature Mastodon.

@Plautus@mindly.social

@HistoPol Apparently there are apps that let you quote. And how can you not be able to copy a link? Maybe get a new instance too. @Plautus@mindly.social

@GottaLaff
It is just that app. Not the instance.
With Tusky it works, but I cannot scroll back in the TL in that app while answering, as in FediLab. Every app has its pros and cons.

As far as I'm concerned, the quote feature for the Mastodon platform has been delayed. Other Fedi platforms have been supporting it.

As for moving instances: only when all posts can be moved, too (or Elmo buys mine ;).)
I still hurt for my 25k tweets, a lot of research went into many.

@HistoPol I use Mona, it works great. @Plautus@mindly.social

@GottaLaff

iPhone I guess?

@Plautus@mindly.social

@HistoPol Yes. Not sure if it's available for others. @Plautus@mindly.social

@GottaLaff

Not available for Android.

@Plautus@mindly.social

@HistoPol Oh, well I'm sure there are others.

@diverdutch

Thanks for the recommendation. Tusky is the app I am using primarily (I typed the wrong name above, sorry.)

However, once I finish redacting a post and want to then add another toot link, I need another app (FediLab.) And then, the problem occurs.

FediLab has quite a few more worthwhile features (e.g. being able to read the thread that you are responding to while redacting,) but it has always been highly unstable on my phone, which has an OS update about...

...every 10 days or so.

So, either way I do it, it won't really work all the time.

@HistoPol

I don't know about other apps and servers, but mine kicks you into the entire thread when I select your post. This allows one access to more context than a quote tweet alonewould give.

Is my experience unique?

@GottaLaff

@jrredho

I use 4 apps.
Sometimes threads get very, very long. I don't have the time to scroll back.
Often, I see only a reply of a contact and based on that, I'd like to know what he was originally responding to. Efficiency.
I really don't want to klick and scroll in a thread, as I often have to. And, not rarely, that doesn't help either b/c I don't have the access rights, not being a follower of the original contributor.

BTW, I usually read: Notfications w/ or w/o...

@GottaLaff

@jrredho @GottaLaff

... New posts. Sometimes Home and sometimes Local or Federated TL.
Still, I don't want to use the fourth column on the PC with the thread, except for editing.
Oh, and then, bummer, some apps show the convo strictly chronologically, which is not the way to do it, as people respond to different positions in the convo.
