@KitsuneAlicia I'm having a hard time reading that linked post. Is there one written in his native language?
@flussence I think that 1st part was supposed to say something like:
"Upon announcing that they (Gab) were moving to the Fediverse, 30+ apps/instances instantly blocked them. I didn't want to be one of them."
Basically, I think he was trying to hint that Gab was "unfairly targeted" or something.
I hope that helps, but feel free to ask him for clarification if you want. Just do it as a reply there or something since I don't have the energy left to deal with any more.
"Basically, I think he was trying to hint that Gab was "unfairly targeted" or something."
At least, if you're going to try to talk about what someone else is "trying", find out before you secure what they've never said.
I'm one of those who preferred Fedilab to block GAB by default but I prefer too not to lie even if I do not agree with the decision.
BTW this is my list of instances blocked with the feature included in Fedilab.
Tom asked Google if his app could be banned for allowing access to GAB, he got no answer and decided that it is not the job of the dev to block by default, just as browsers do not prevent access to that website, but that he should provide tools for blocking, including adding instances to block manually.
I would have preferred the default block but in no case that I have read Tom has defended GAB.
@JotaSeth @flussence Huh. I wasn't aware of that. I mean, I saw those, but I thought they were admin only stuff. That last one definitely disproves that, though, since he explicitly used the word "account".
I stand corrected. Thank you for pointing these out to me. This is arguably a better route from an anarchist perspective since it puts the control on the individual user, giving power to the people.
