I had a moment with an Escape Pod story yesterday by @KameronHurley, listening on my way home from work ("When We Fall").

As the story progressed, I noticed all the characters were female. That niggling grew into annoyance until the end, when I was thinking... "You can't just erase men from a Sci-Fi universe. It's not realist..."

*he gets it*

"Oh."

I'm sorry, Kameron. The subtlety cost me some time, but I got there.

The story is incredible, by the way. Listen here:

I’d probably raise their allowance and take them out to a really nice dinner.

Parents, what would you do if your child lectured and ridiculed a U.S. Senator on national television?

Content isn't "free" when there are ads. The longer I work in advertising, the more this idea that content w/ads is "Free" bothers me. It's not free at all. You're paying for it with your time and attention to sponsored content, and how that content then drives you to take actions. It's not "free."

@andrhia yup. I was thinking about this again yesterday, that whole "I need a wife" thing. Apparently Thoreau's mom cooked his meals and did his laundry when he was at Walden. I mean... that's some shit the dude didn't talk much about

Nonidea why I'm struggling to get back my old word count blitzes. Too many distractions maybe

Put together the annual story collection for Patreon. I felt completely unproductive last year, but that collection is 80k of stories, plus I did the 90k on Broken Heavens (60k of which is salvageable) and maybe a few more tens of thousands of Light Brigade. So.... yeah, ha ha that's "unproductive" for me.
