Repeat after me:

To be straight is to be political.
To be cis is to be political.
To be male is to be political.
To be white is to be political.

Every identity is political.
Only the privileged identities are labeled apolitical by society - but that doesn't mean that they are.
Everyone's identity is political.

I'm reading the local timeline. The toots that are obviously x-posted from Twitter make me genuinely depressed.

most common question asked in a maths classroom: "why do we have to do this why can't we just use a calculator"

blatant lie told to every pupil since like 1980: "you won't always have a calculator available"

actual truth: "calculators are devil objects, none of them work the same, you'll only really be acquainted with how exactly one of them works across your lifetime and when it comes time to use it again you'll have forgotten how it works anyway"

I just saw my shadow. You know what that means: 6 more months of gay pride. Sorry, I don't make the rules.

Had a geek nostalgia moment today.

Ended up looking at the site for Damnsmalllinux.

I was always so impressed with how much actual functionality was packed into those minimalist projects, and I still think their extension system was really clever.

Their extension directory still contains a few packages I created, under an old username.

Live CD distros like this, knoppix, dragonlinux and even microscopic tomsrtbt floppy were among my first tastes of Linux.

employee: I Know What You Want.
me: Say It. Out Loud.
employee: Bopcorn

honestly that's my writing advice: don't take it too seriously
look at a meme or a joke, say "Oh ha that's just like my character"
think about what that says about them, can you build on that?
it goes even better with a friend
in a few minutes, them dumbest idea can become tragic backstory, intriguing plot point, a goal, a trait, anything!
know about your characters more than the serious moments, they need something more to have depth

From the Solarpunk Aesthetic tumblr:

Biotechnologist Marin Sawa and her University of London research group have created a proof-of-concept for printing solar cells onto paper using carbon nanotubes and cyanobacteria.

This technology is "[...] capable of generating a sustained electrical current both in the dark (as a ‘solar bio-battery’) and in response to light (as a ‘bio-solar-panel’) with potential applications in low-power devices."

the two biggest problems in computer science:

1) the halting problem
2) the halting notifications problem

trying to build up skill with low poly and low res modeling, cause it's outside of my comfort zone. 240 triangles and a resolution of 256x256. Still not as good as I want it to be, but I might as well practice.
