I have been very fortunate to live through this pandemic in Nova Scotia where cases have been low.
I am however very pessimistic about the pace of vaccination.
And I just miss my family. I haven't seen any member of my family south of the border or across the Atlantic in 14 months. And I miss them.

While it has been one of the "milder" plagues in history, it certainly has been one of the most disruptive experiences in modern times. Like you said, you're fortunate to be in a community that took precautions seriously.

It's nice to see, though, that you have that kind of relationship with your family where you miss their company. That's something to be very grateful for, even if it also causes these feelings you're experiencing now.

Hang in there. It's not over, but it soon will be.
