I just came across the phrase -->political affiliation as a team sport<-- to describe the over-polarisation of politics today and I think it really hits the nail on the head.
Many people, (esp men) are from an early age indoctrinated to feel they have to identify with a particular team in a particular sport as part of their identity, and this makes them vulnerable to also seeing politics in this way instead of looking at the issues and policies, problems and solutions.
@LillyHerself The Little boy Farage uses this to his advantage, he knows that many who fill the terraces at football stadia are easily manipulated. His dog whistling is becoming a cacophony of hate. I find it incredible that a foul turd has been able to do so much harm to the U.K. and still be elected in Clacton. Not surprising, just incredulous. A high percentage of people are politically ignorant and listen to fag and beer breath is if he were their ally! He’s a grifter.
