Here's a privacy tip for new Tooters.

You can choose between FOUR different privacy settings for every individual toot u post here!! Just how cool is that!? 🤩🤘

While drafting a toot, follow these simple steps:

1. Click on the globe icon in the 'compose toot' window

2. Select any of these privacy settings for the toot you are composing:
🔸Public
🔸Public but unlisted
🔸Private n visible to ur followers only
🔸Direct (similar to Twitter DMs!)

Boost & spread word!! 💗

@Lord_VoldeMaut Unlisted means it won't appear on local and federated timelines?

@alkalien that's correct

An unlisted toot will only be visible when someone manually scrolls thru ur TL!! 🙂💁‍♂️
It won't show up on local and federated TLs!

@Lord_VoldeMaut Thanks for that. I have a couple of questions if you can help.
1) how do I toot to a person directly? At the moment I have reply or else type @ and so on.
2) Where do I find my own toots? 😲
Sorry if I'm being blind and can't see these features. BTW, I use the Whalebird desktop app.
P.S. But I'm proud of not being blind follower 😀

@driveAKar
🔸1-1 DMs can be sent simply by tagging the concerned person while composing the toot, and selecting 'Direct' in d privacy options 🙂
🔸 Maybe @stux can confirm how we can view ONLY our own toots

🐘

@Lord_VoldeMaut DMs are not fully private. The admins can see them. Also all members tagged can see the messages. It's not the same as twitter

@Lawandemotions

🔸The admins (Stux and Eugen) have confirmed that while admins n mods don't have direct access to DMs, the database heads CAN access n view DMs (if they wish to)

🔸If u want 1-1 DMs, simply untag the other members who might be a part of that DM chat. Simple!! 🙂💁‍♂️

@Lawandemotions @Lord_VoldeMaut I think only database admin can see DMs. Other than that not possible for moderators

@indiantoolmaker @Lawandemotions

That's correct.
Therefore it's advisable to err on the side of caution n not get too carried away in our DM chats here lol 😹💁‍♂️
