If Biden gets the nomination I'll take it as proof that lizard people actually rule the earth.
Universities-
And on a related note, I think that the extent to which college is promoted as a path out of poverty to low-income people is criminal. The country has become far more educated in the past couple decades, but real wages haven't gone up since my parents were children. We just managed to convince people to pay for a degree that in many fields is nothing more than something to have on your resume as you apply to the same minimum-wage jobs you had before you started.
Fun fact: I'm making less now than I did working at the mall as a teen.

I think the fediverse represents a reclamation of the internet by the people on it, away from the coroproations which try to steal it. We can have a second golden age.
Reject the capitalist internet, bring back the friendly neighborhood internet. Get your friends on here.
Don't be afraid to get weird with it. Let's get even weirder. And let's do it on _our_ platforms. The internet belongs to us.

the funny thing about all this is there is basically no evidence that data analytics transformed into personalized advertising actually affects profits. the advertising surveillance apparatus keeps chugging along purely because managers believe it does

Brains are the last frontier of privacy
What's happening: Machines that read brain activity from outside the head, or in some cases even inside the skull, are still relatively limited in the data they can extract from wearers' brains, and how accurately they can interpret it.
But the tech is moving fast. We can now recognize basic emotional states, unspoken words and imagined movements — all by analyzing neural data.
🧠
Apparently I am slightly above average at spotting privacy friendliness. 😁
