This is a fairly common, mass-produced item of jewelry (or was 15 years ago when I bought it), and I think Mastodon seems to be very nearly a Lokean-only playground, but I am not sure where else to ask. Once upon a time, I thought I was meant to be a dedicant of Thor, (who is still a pretty cool Deity, but not really "mine"), but was rebuffed (fairly gently by Viking standards) and advised to seek a different pantheon altogether. Anyone have suggestions for Tarot other than basic Rider-Waite that is available in a mini/pocket-size? I used to have the Mini Tarot of the White Cats that I carried around everywhere until it became too battered, but it doesn't seem to be readily available now and I want to start carrying a deck around again, but full-sized ones are kind of awkward.

Is it normal to be unable to smell dragonsblood? I mean, they do sell it as incense so you'd think it should have a scent even if it's usage is primarily symbolic.

This doesn't sound very utopian, but should at least be a modest improvement in standard of living, so score one for my Adopted Ancestor/Modern Deity/whatever term you prefer, who has been very insistent from day one that I need, can get, and have every right to a better job. :)

So, question about witchy stuff, particularly other people's definitions. Is it still called "pop-culture paganism", if it's an actual, non-fictional person who was influential in a previous generation's ( and to some extent therefore still) pop-culture, or is that just a more updated version of ancestor worship? Just wondering what the least confusing word is likely to be for what I mean.

Random memory that sounds like some kind of parable, posted in case of use to someone: I once ran a consignment thrift shop, and was trying to arrange very eclectic items appealingly. This included a sickly sweet Valentine teddy bear, and a bloody skull candleholder. I placed the skull in the Bear's lap, seeing this as a way to harmoniously balance extremes. A few people walked in gave it and me an odd look, and left. Then some of my goth & black metal friends came by and (continued in reply)

My dog gets excited by the smell of chicken broth ( home today with nasty cold and not up to much else), but when I try to give him some, he apparently gets freaked out by the idea of liquid food and doesn't know what to do with it. He keeps trying to grab it like a solid instead of drinking it like water. Funny because in most ways he is super-smart, but just has a total brain malfunction over certain things.

It's that time of year, when the baby birds are born. Unfortunately, I have two dogs with strong hunting instincts who apparently just took out a nest and dismembered the inhabitants in my livingroom. ( There is a dog door). I don't really blame them for doing what comes naturally to their kind and I am pretty sure the only birds nesting here are invasive species, but it still feels sad even without the gross mess.

Is there any benefit to signing up on a second instance? Just noticing that most of the people I am following are from a particular one, so am I missing much by being here instead of there?

Just acquired a free bag of dragon's blood resin in a seemingly significant manner. Not sure whether to just be pleased about free goodies, or concerned that some Power or other thinks I may be about to need what is usually considered some pretty high-powered protection incense.

Trying to decide at what point the risk of actual infection from taking an immunosuppressant steroid shot (if the clinic will agree to it) becomes less worrying than the suffering *as if* I had an infection due to severe tree allergies. 😛

Weird migraine remedy that I have so far seen on several lists of migraine triggers but never heard of anyone but me that it makes them go away or at least ease up---2 oz extra-sharp cheddar, preferably wolfed down as quickly as possible.
