@Linux4Everyone #4 You can't design on Linux

I fully switched to Linux last year and I currently use a mix of Gravit, Inkscape and GIMP for my web design business.

Watching live football at 3:30 on a Wednesday afternoon when it's not an international tournament, is weird.

My faithful 2014 MacBook Pro is now stuck on Big Sur and is too old for Monterey, so it’s been the perfect time to partition it and create a Linux/MacOS dual boot.

I’ve been using Linux as my daily driver for around 18 months now and finally over the summer got stuck into KDE Plasma, which has felt like a game changer.

As a long time admirer of Solus I have their spin of Plasma on my main desktop Dell rig, which is solid. However I opted for Kubuntu on the MBP as there was less compatibility issues.

With Kubuntu everything worked out of the box except the FaceTime camera, but after a bit of digging I was able to install the driver for that too.

Although the MBP is 7 years old it’s still a very capable machine and now I’ve installed Kubuntu it continues to be a first class citizen in my set up.

Getting down to some proper graphic design for a change. Inkscape v1.1 has been a massive update for me as I’ve previously struggled with the interface and document setup. The latest release makes it feel like something has clicked.

I see bitcoin is having a little trot up today. Has someone announced something somewhere?

Had a fantastic day yesterday in the stunning surroundings of Beresford Dale in the Peak District. I was attending a workshop by the Royal Photographic Society in Hartington. The three really inspiring tutors got me to think a little differently to my approach to taking photos.

Had a crazy morning after a broken network switch decided use only half of it's ports. Done some crazy cable swapping to sort it!
