Telegram may have some questionable things behind it but like... holy shit is it the most feature filled IM client I've ever seen... and it's so polished on both Desktop and Mobile.
Electron is only popular because it lets people get "desktop programs" out as lazily and quickly as possible.
Mastalab seems better than Tusky (who's development seems to have stalled) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=fr.gouv.etalab.mastodon&rdid=fr.gouv.etalab.mastodon
@Purism if the Librem5 development goes well, would a variant with a physical / sliding QWERTY keyboard be possible (Like what the N900 had)? I feel a Linux phone is a bit of a waste without a nice physical keyboard. SSHing my boxes from a soft-keyboard is really frustrating!
Increased character limit is Mastodon's least important feature, albeit a nice perk
Mastodon's primary strength are the decentralization (resilience to failures, government censorship, distributed nature of the moderation and ability to own your own megaphone) and the power dynamic between the product and the users. It is free and open source, and does not seek to exploit the user through ads or surveillance; it is, rather, made by the users for the users.
