Telegram may have some questionable things behind it but like... holy shit is it the most feature filled IM client I've ever seen... and it's so polished on both Desktop and Mobile.

Looking at getting out of the Google Ecosystem - anyone want to share their experiences?

Which Operating Systems are being used by the world's Super Computers? Luckily they provided this handy pie chart to help us visualize it.

Electron is only popular because it lets people get "desktop programs" out as lazily and quickly as possible.

@MattMcNutt @BryanLunduke Since 95% people disagree with me most of the time, this is progress. :)

@Elizafox i generally use "gnu/linux" only when i have to specifically differentiate desktop linux distros from stuff like router firmwares and android (i.e. devices which use the linux kernel, but otherwise run entirely custom software)

@Elizafox I mean if he'd wanted people to properly call it the GNU OS he could have actually made the HURD kernel functional and usable instead of dicking around with highbrow academic concepts while the world passed him by.

@Purism if the Librem5 development goes well, would a variant with a physical / sliding QWERTY keyboard be possible (Like what the N900 had)? I feel a Linux phone is a bit of a waste without a nice physical keyboard. SSHing my boxes from a soft-keyboard is really frustrating!

Increased character limit is Mastodon's least important feature, albeit a nice perk

Mastodon's primary strength are the decentralization (resilience to failures, government censorship, distributed nature of the moderation and ability to own your own megaphone) and the power dynamic between the product and the users. It is free and open source, and does not seek to exploit the user through ads or surveillance; it is, rather, made by the users for the users.
