@Gargron I don't know if I'm being a bad guy by bringing up a feature discussion here. But I believe this event is an important reminder to why we need full account #migration support.
People who had their entire history there will be able to download the archive, but not import it to any other #Mastodon server until then. All of their existing posts will likely be lost on a hard drive, as they'll have to start from scratch on the new instance they will be registering on.

It is not focused on any particular niche interest - everyone is welcome as long as you follow our code of conduct!
@MirceaKitsune Totally agree! This is one of the reasons I'm not comfortable asking many of my family/friends to join Mastodon. Also, it's harder for me to move over to an instance I'm hosting, since I'll lose many of the followers I have here.
