@meskarune I appreciate the input, but I think you misunderstood what I was asking. I'm already aware of how to price for time and materials. If I were doing a work like this on commission I'd use that. But these are done in my spare time in a medium I'm not at all experienced with, and I want to get them off of my hands. "Is $25 each fair" was meant to ask "would someone be comfortable buying these for $25".
@Mous Oh awesome. I just see so many people under value their work, to the point of losing money in some cases. Its such a chronic problem with creators.
@Mous You should price your art based on the cost of materials and amount of time spent making it. So you can get an 8x8 canvas for around $5, and the paint probably adds on another $5. Then charge a base price per hour for labour. At $25 you are only paying yourself $15 over the cost of raw materials (I excluded the cost of brushes, soap, pallets, etc that you might include as a percentage of the total). You can keep receipts for art supplies to help with pricing, and add the business expense to your taxes
