Hazaras & increasingly Tajiks are being targeted. That doesn’t mean Pashtuns are not also suffering. It does mean we need to be able to have adult conversations about the ethnic element of Taliban oppression & persecution, without descending into personal attacks & racism. 5/5

He was detained & interrogated because he had a piece of paper with the full name & number of a Panjsheri friend in his pocket. As in, his surname was Panjsheri & that was written on the paper. That’s what he said & I don’t know why he’d make that up. 3/5

Ironically, my cousin is ideologically more aligned to those people currently ridiculing me & my family & calling me a liar, than he is to me. But my cousin is innocent & he is family & we were worried sick until he was released. 2/5

I did not expect people to be more offended by my calling for the prevention of Tajik genocide than by the Taliban arbitrarily detaining my innocent cousin. Those people need to ask themselves why that is. 1/5
