Oh... the public TL is a really interesting idea actually. I like having that as an option, as long as it doesn't become forced/a focus of the service (though I don't get the impression it will). But I reckon it will get a lot less usable if things get busier.
Language gets weird when you're talking about this stuff, and the way I'm writing about it probably complicates it even more, so sorry for posting confusingly lol.
By "posts colour-coded" I mean like a small indicator of which account you are seeing a post as the follower of, if you get me. It could be a little bit messy for a live TL but it works excellently for notifications in Twidere.
I worried for a sec that it could compromise the benefits of multiple twitter accounts in that you couldn't have like a 'SFW' TL if you needed it but I suppose you could off and on seeing posts from accts you follow on [X] account vs [Y] account.
Things I'm thinking about Mastodon so far:
- The longer character limit is much nicer than I expected but that may be just because it's a lot quieter here for now.
- Having a separate column for things you click open is an excellent idea.
- Wonder if/when multi-account support will happen.
- Feel like that last point would probably compromise the positives of the one before it.
I reckon stuff could be learned form Twidere on android... maybe a single TL with posts colour-coded.
I like the looks of this place but I know in my heart that making people stop using Twitter will take Twitter actually literally shutting down.
is it possible to configure columns here like Tweetdeck. I'd like a good not-Twitter.
