I was watching the interviews of some of the JNU students last night and that was really an eye openar.
Most of them came from unimaginably poor families with an income of not more than Rs 1.25 lakhs per year.
It's admirable to know that these young guys and girls made it to JNU and have such a urge to do something with their lives.
JNU seems to be one of the very few Universities which is affordable for these people.
JNU - yesterday. @email@example.com @IndianExpress@twitter.com
@Deepsealioness Because inditoot refused to moderate hate speech, we have "silenced" them on our end. This means they cannot follow our users automatically, you instead get the choice to approve/reject, for your safety.
An SBI research report on Tuesday has projected GDP growth in the second quarter of the fiscal at 4.2 %, much lower then the growth rate of 5 %reported in the first quarter, which was itself a 6 year low.
Q: Why do bigots like #birdsite?
A: The character limitations make for a perfect match!
I find it ironic that at least 90% of the people dissing #JNU on #birdsite aren't able to string together a few words to form a sentence. They are the best example for why education is needed in our country! Given that, I don't know why we have to kill the aspirations of so many people just so that we can go around building statues and cow sheds.
We are now a nation of first class citizens who are the caste Hindus or their "wannabes" (lower casete but Hindutva supporters) and then all others who are second class citizens.
Hollowing out of the nation's secular consciousness and making of Hindu Rashtra is more or less done at this point. The future of a bright and prosperous nation is all but sunset and what happens now in the darkness of the abyss will haunt all future generations.
@audreytruschke I did some research and found (wanted to come to a temporary conclusion, hence stopped the study). Inference: A) Ramayan is a collection of short stories which existed then B) I see it as a collection of Greek fables. 10 inch men, Ram's bow story, all of them.. (I have cross references) could you please validate my knowledge?
The #AyodhyaVerdict decides nothing about ancient history (that being the realm of historians). But it communicates quite clearly modern India's values and the permissibility of using mob violence against religious minorities. https://timesofindia.indiatimes.com/india/rss-chief-welcomes-ayodhya-verdict-appeals-for-calm/articleshow/71981901.cms
Some technical issues with Mirror Now, so I didn't get a chance to speak. The points I was going to make:
1. Twitter has been inconsistent when it comes to implementing its policies and we've seen several instances of people being banned, or even shadowbanned. https://twitter.com/nixxin/status/1192811767858110464
