As someone who faithfully watched it on its first run back in the 80s, I'm here to tell you that outside the opening credits:

THUNDERCATS REALLY WASN'T VERY GOOD

Honestly, like most other shows of its day, it was a long-form toy commercial, selling action figures and vehicles, with a simplified plot for kids to re-enact with those toys. Granted, Transformers, G.I. Joe and Masters of the Universe were even more blatant commercials, but in the end that's what all of them were. Including T-cats.

A new version coming out aimed at kids instead of middle-aged dudes obsessed with nostalgia isn't spitting on something sacred. Thundercats wasn't sacred to begin with. It was a toy commercial and they spent at least half the budget outsourcing that famous opening credit sequence to Japan. That's really it.

Your childhood isn't at risk. It's still right where you left it, in the past.

@Nezchan
Totally agree. Even posted the same thing the other day.

@gcupc The whole worship of Masters of the Universe puzzles me even more. It seems to survive entirely on nostalgia, given the animation was Flintstones-level but without the good writing.

@Nezchan @gcupc Most of these shows, the title sequence/theme song is really the only good part.
