Now there's a surprise. I was given the expansion for Civilization: Beyond Earth this morning as a present. I'd pretty much given up on trying that, although I'm told it improves the base game a lot.
It's a pity Civ:BE never got the attention that Civ 5 did, with expansions that really brought out its potential. It'll always be the younger sibling living in the main series' shadow now.

@CitySquirrel Turns out the download was hung up and I needed to restart Steam. Which for some reason locked my machine up and I had to restart too.
