@OhiniJonez the music that stands out the most to me is mostly from features rather than series–Kenji Kawai's work on the Patlabor movies & GitS, and the Geinoh Yamashirogumi Akira OST. It stands out to me for how visionary & unexpected it feels–a dystopian cyberpunk film with a score of traditional chanting & esoteric world music. I also like Kohei Tanaka's music for the Diebuster OVA...but like w/OSTs generally I wonder if my affection for the work in general bleeds into the soundtrack....
