F-Droid will soon have stricter requirements for apps showing up in the "Latest" tab in the F-Droid app:

If you are an app developer consider adding good descriptions, screenshots and a "Whats's New" section for your app.

If you notice that your favourite app doesn't fulfill all these requirements consider notifying the app's developers or just help them with a merge request adding the missing info to the source repo.

Thank God they removed "do no evil" or this might be embarrassing. Also, Bill Hicks was right, if you're in marketing....kill yourself.

Many email senders, including the U.S. government, implement tracking that is undisclosed, difficult to opt-out of, and can expose sensitive information to third parties and sometimes even others on your network. It doesn’t have to be that way. eff.org/deeplinks/2019/01/stop

@albin From Stallman's artical:

"There are so many ways to use data to hurt people that the only safe database is the one that was never collected. Thus, instead of the EU’s approach of mainly regulating how personal data may be used (in its General Data Protection Regulation or GDPR), I propose a law to stop systems from collecting personal data."

If you didn't yet know, Google is datamining GMail etc for purchase confirmation emails amongst other things and aggregating it for their own purposes in an extremely detailed way.

(Everything you purchased with order ids, detailed billing details, VAT, including subscriptions etc)

Do not believe a single word about how this information is kept private. There is zero reason to build a system to aggregate this and then not use it to make money out of.

Just bought a stolen macbook from a flea market and found the original owner and we are returning it to them right now. My friend still needs a computer but at least someone didn’t lose all their data and school work and will probably have a little new found faith in humanity.
