I posted a free item on Craigslist. I've never felt so popular.

Hello Fediverse!

This is call for feedback and comments on the initial Fediverse Enhancement Proposal (FEP):

FEP-a4edc7b: The Fediverse Enhancement Proposal Process
(git.activitypub.dev/ActivityPu)

FEPs are intended to be documents that provide information that improves interoperability and general well-being of the Fediverse.

This may include technical things but also social and cultural best-practices and experiences.

Baking disaster, sadness

Apparently not all pie pans are created equal 😢

I think Google should save everyone a lot of time and effort and jump straight to discontinuing new services:

"We are proud to announce that Google Kitchen Tools will no longer be available on Sep 1st 2020, nor has it ever been available. Should you wish to export your Google Kitchen Tools data, you should be aware that there is no data, as Google Kitchen Tools has never existed.

Thanks,
The Google Kitchen Tools Team"

It really can't be overstated how browsers had to rethink everything after Spectre/Meltdown.

Weird thought: Retirement is like renting your own freedom. You literally have to purchase yourself.

I pledge for every "doc"-folder being renamed to "tfm". We tell users to rtfm all the time, so how are they supposed to find tfm?

I thought it would be a fun little project to write my own window manager.

Now here I am looking at the X11 protocol for the first time and WHAT WERE THEY THINKING.

This reminds me of Internet vs. delivery services in terms of bandwidth: what-if.xkcd.com/31/

Ugh, looks like GitHub has been rate-limiting Travis, and this is probably why my Travis tests haven't been reporting green/red build status to GitHub... jamescooke.info/migrating-open

They really just want me to switch to GitHub Actions, don't they? 😛

"What is your 'why'?"
"Pardon?" said the artist.
"Why did you create this?"
"I thought it was neat."
"And this?"
"I had to get the idea out of my head to make room for new ones."
"And this?"
"It's funny, isn't it? I think it is."
"You must have a purpose!"
"I just told you."

I kind of autonerdsniped myself into looking at sites that aggregate personal #weather stations, but everything I've found is either effectively dead (weather underground) or worryingly proprietary despite being called "open". Is there anything for this on the fediverse?

I can't wait to get my #Pinephone so I can text people "GNU phone, who dis?"

The Onion, Google satire

Seems less like satire these days. Its impressive when you realize the video is 10 years old.
